Gregg Hoffman was named one of the top 100 personal trainers in America by Men's Journal Magazine. He. along with his wife, Sharon Hoffman, was also featured in cntv.
Gregg Hoffman has been active in the fitness industry for over 25 years. He started innocently enough by strongly persuading his friends to work out with him. The reason for his passion? He learned that there was so much more to exercise than we originally thought...in how little we need. Like many bodybuilding aspirants, he would spend many hours a week in his quest for muscular size and strength, and like most trainees in the gym, he did not see much progress. One day, while perusing through the books at the local health food store, he stumbled across a book written by Dr. Ellington Darden called Super High Intensity Bodybuilding. Dr. Darden had a whole different approach to exercise, and bodybuilding in particular. He advocated that to get superior results from exercise, one should spend no more than 45 minutes per workout, and no more than three total workouts a week! The catch was that a trainee had to work harder, thus challenging the body to a higher level. Being the type of person that likes to look at problems from other perspectives, and to think outside of the box in particular, Gregg bought the book and applied the principles. Sure enough, Gregg started seeing strength gains he could never see from a high volume/low intensity approach. Through this success, Gregg's interest and passion for fitness grew.
In his ever expanding quest for fitness knowledge, he studied many other disciplines and ultimately developed his on exercise program he calls Hystrength(sm).
Along the way, he earned certifications from the following:
Sasha and Company
The American Council of Exercise
The C.H.E.K. Institute
Scientific core training
Scientific back training
While increasing his knowledge in the fitness industry, he owned and operated two fitness training studios called Bodies by Hoffman. For quality control and to guarantee top notch exercise programs from his trainers for the Bodies by Hoffman clientele, Gregg would put his new hires through a rigorous training program, even if they were previously certified. This is how he created the Hystrength(sm) certification program. He also had an outreach program whereby he worked with Heritage College and Emily Griffith Community college by setting up an intern program with them, so students could get a real life feel for the fitness industry.
Gregg is also the author of two books:
Proven Strategies for Cellulite Loss
Lose the Menopot
Both are available on Amazon.com
At present, Gregg Hoffman co-owns Urban Pump, llc., a personal training studio located in Denver, Colorado. All told, Gregg Hoffman has logged over 45,000 hours training people who want to get into shape.
Gregg Hoffman has been invited to lecture for P.E.R.A. and Oracle, and he has done many lectures over the years through Bodies by Hoffman as well as Urban Pump.
Exercise the Hystrength (sm) way
Productive exercise does not require several hours a week. You can build muscle, lose fat, and improve your overall fitness with just 40 minutes of exercise a week. This lecture will discuss the science of productive exercise, the protocols of Hystrength, and how you can incorporate the Hystrength principles into your own program.
Training Above The Anaerobic Threshold: That's Where the Magic Happens
Cardiovascular conditioning is considered by many in the fitness industry as the pinnacle of fitness. This is not necessarily true. Rapid fat loss, higher reserve capacity, muscular function and longevity are best accomplished by training out of the aerobic zone. This lecture will explain some of the processes that happen by training anaerobic ally, such as the amplification cascade, fast twitch development, and yes, the mechanism that improves endurance through intense training.
Fit Over 50: Training For The "Third Quarter Of Life"
We cannot train our bodies the same way when we are older as compared to when we were younger. Most of us will be dealing with nagging injuries, and if we are not careful, we can get injured more easily. Moreover, we need to train with the proper intensity to prevent sarcopenia (muscle loss). This is critical if we want to have a highly functional body in our 60's and beyond. In this lecture we will discuss strategies to deal with past injuries, and how to train properly so that you can train hard and stay injury free.
Why We Get Fat...It's Not Just Calories
In an effort to lose fat, nearly everybody will try to lose the fat by taking in less calories than they burn. This seems to be common sense, but the science does not back it up. People struggle to lose the weight and keep it off using this strategy. An opposing hypothesis says that there is more to the story. The types of food we eat can promote fat storage...or efficient fat burning. In this lecture we will discuss the impact of what we eat has on our bodies, and the best way to eat to lose fat easily and keep it off.
Lose the Menopot
Going through menopause, women willstart to gain more fat around the waist instead of the hips and thighs. Complicating the matter is the fact that women gain fat easier...and have a harder time losing it when they reach the age of menopause. This is popularly known the "menopot". Hormonal shifts, sedentary living, and poor eating habits have been implicated as causes of the menopot. So to counter that, women will try hormone replacement therapy, low fat eating combined with calorie counting, and an increase in physical activity. And yet, the menopot still does not shrink. Out of frustration, most women will simply resign to the belief that regaining the youthful physique is impossible, and simply quit trying.
Yes, the body does shift how it stores body fat after menopause, and it does seem near impossible to lose it, but it can be done. It is simply a matter of sending the right signals to the body...telling the body to lose fat and gain muscle. This is done by the right food choices and the right exercise program. This lecture will give you all the tools to put the right, and more importantly the more efficient diet and exercise program to lose the menopot once and for all.
Diet and Exercise: Myths and Misconceptions
Over the last 50 years this is what we have been told by the health experts:
Eat less and move more to lose weight
A low fat/high carbohydrate diet is healthy and good for fat loss
Do cardio exercise to lose fat. The more the better
And so on
Statistics show that we have in the aggregate followed that advice, yet we are fatter than ever. Moreover, diabetes, heart disease and Alzheimer's and other age related diseases are on the rise. Something is clearly wrong. This lecture will talk about the myths that have led us down the wrong path to fitness and health and shed some light on new ideas. It is much easier to lose fat and stay fit than we realize. You will leave with a better understanding of what you need to do to regain and maintain your health.
Cellulite is the cottage cheese, dimply look to the skin that is most noticeable around the thighs and buttocks of women. It is not a health concern, but it is not considered very aesthetically pleasing, and thus women would like to do what they can to get rid of it. There are many remedies touted to do the job, but do they work? Can they work?
In this lecture I will talk about what cellulite actually is, what works, what cannot work, and most importantly, realistic expectations about what can be done to minimize the cottage cheese look of cellulite.
We are open to suggestions. If there are any health and fitness related topics you would like that is not listed, please contact us by filling out the form below and we will customize any presentations to your needs.
