In the 2 years I have been training with Gregg, my body has visibly transformed while at the same time I have become fitter and stronger. At 50 years old, I am in the best shape of my life, thanks to Gregg and his Hystrength training methods.
Gregg is an expert at getting the most out of my workouts in the least amount of time. I don’t mind training hard, but I don’t have a lot of free time to work out. So, Gregg’s intense 30 minute total body workouts constantly challenge me while consistently helping me improve week after week. We have a lot of fun too, so I stay motivated to keep coming back.

I started training with Gregg in August of 2011 after noticing their sign and looking them up on the Internet. I was looking to get in better shape and avoid the dreaded “menopot” but what I have found after 5 months has been much more life changing than just getting in better shape.
I had lower back surgery in the summer of 2009 after several years of extreme pain from sciatica. The surgery helped about 30% but I still had trouble with day to day activities from my morning walks to grocery shopping. I would inevitably find myself in excruciating pain after the most benign activities and would take hours to resolve itself. I dreaded going to concerts or any social event which would entail any kind of standing. Knowing that I wasn’t going to be doing any more surgeries and being told by therapists to not do anything too strenuous, I resigned myself to “living” with it. Well, that’s hardly living.
After looking up Urban Pump and noticing that Gregg worked with people with just such situations, I decided to give it a try. I was both cautiously optimistic and scared at the same time. I certainly didn’t want to hurt myself and be worse off but my vanity won as I wanted to be in better shape.
I can tell you that after 5 months of working with Gregg twice a week my back problems and specifically the sciatica has improved by at least 95%. I rarely have any pain even after hours of housework and shopping. I’m back to walking my dogs 3 miles every morning. Had you told me that six months ago, I would have laughed and certainly not believed it.
What Gregg has helped me accomplish in such a short time is unbelievable. I wish I had done this before I ever thought of surgery or years of physical therapy.
Also, on a side note, I am getting in better shape everyday and hauling out my smaller jeans. My core is getting tighter and I am actually seeing some great muscle definition and cellulite reduction to say nothing of renewed energy! All this without starving and hours of gym time!!

I have thought long and hard on what I could possibly say to write an appropriate testimonial for you. The difficulty I have found, lies in the fact that to appropriately comment on your skills would bankrupt the English language.
Men’s Journal has described you as “One of the 100 best trainers in America.” I would comment the same, but would also add that you are truly a world class “magician” in your ability to completely transform a person’s body for the better! Top 100 trainers in America? Nay, I would argue that you fall into the top 5 (if not the # 1 slot)!
Indeed, where I am today is in a completely different and MUCH better place than when I first walked in your door with a limited life span left to live. You have literally saved my life, and for that I will always be indebted to you.
There are not enough words to say “thanks” and to be able to recommend you enough to others. You are much more than just a “personal trainer” to me. You are a savior.

I met Gregg over 15 years ago when I was seeking weight training expertise; he was just starting out in the industry. In the ensuing years, I practiced his methods off and on; experimenting with other disciplines and participating in an exercise study in my quest for fitness. By happy coincidence, Gregg and I were reacquainted in 2008. I was struck by his passion for his training program and that very evening, decided that I not only wanted to train with him again, but I wanted to learn his protocols and launch my own personal training career. Throughout my internship, Gregg proved over and over again his depth of knowledge and expertise. I saw my body transform into that of a lean, strong and shapely woman. Thanks to Gregg's personal and highly motivating attention, at 47, I am in the best shape of my life. I feel confident not only in my own body, but in passing on my knowledge to others. When I met Gregg and Sharon, I had not worked out seriously in over 11 years. My weight had yo-yoed slightly, but more noticeably was the fact that I did not have any muscle definition. A few other things were also going on. I had major reconstructive knee surgery after an accident, and while I had done physical therapy, I did not recover full range of motion. In addition, I had continual pain in my left hip since giving birth to my daughter in 1998. To top it all off, I had hit menopause, and suddenly developed the "spare tire". Needless to say, when I decided to get back in shape, I was motivated to lose weight, and generally feel better. I was tired of being in pain and feeling chubby!
I began in late September 2008 with Gregg. Initially I worked out one day a week with him, and two days a week at home. It was working, but I wanted more. I increased my workouts by adding two days with Sharon. Here is what has happened in 7 months. I started out by leg-pressing 80 pounds. Today I can leg press 530 lbs. I have never felt so strong and tight EVER in my life. My energy level has increased, and by listening to their nutrition advice, I eat healthy and have leaned out. I feel confident when I wear shorts or a bathing suit and love getting dressed each day! And, the best result (completely unexpected) is that my hip NO LONGER hurts! My hip had burned constantly for 10 years! Now, I have no pain. I have also regained full range of motion in my knee.
I love the fact that I only have to work out 3 days a week. I don't have to drag myself to a gym every day, or starve myself. My metabolism has increased, so I fuel my body with healthy foods. I LOVE the fact that I have muscles and know that I am protecting myself from pain and deterioration by building muscle mass. Not to mention, that Gregg and Sharon make working out fun. They truly care about their clients. I can't thank Gregg and Sharon enough.
So, There I was, 31 years old and THE biggest I had ever been. Not only did I feel heinously ugly outside, I felt worthless inside. I shied away from cameras and dreaded running into anyone I hadn't seen in a while. I had zero energy, my hips, back and feet hurt and I had no idea what to do or where to start towards feeling better. I felt hopeless.
I was introduced to Sharon and Gregg by a client of mine. She told me there was a "networking" event I should attend and so I did. That night, I listened to Gregg speak about their unique approach to strength training and body re-shaping. He mentioned their program only took around 30 minutes a day, 3 times per week. Me ears opened and my interest was grabbed as I had assumed that to get any measurable results, I would have to dedicate at least 1-2 hours a day, 5 times per week.
I have only been in their program for 5 weeks. I have already noticed several small changes that continue to motivate and encourage me. My diet is totally different and I find myself craving nutritious foods before the "bad"
stuff I would run to before. I walk differently now. I get out of bed before the first snooze alarm, sometimes before the alarm even goes off. I sleep deeper, my clothes fit better (loser), I have more energy, and mostly, I feel hopeful.
I have been working out with the urban pump family for 6 months. I have been struggling with my weight my whole life. At my heaviest I was in a size 20 and at 240 pounds. For me I never felt as big as I had become because I had always loved who I was, but then one summer I could not fit in the seats at the amusement park with my friends. How utterly embarrassing!! Then I turned 31, still single, realized that if I wanted to have babies later in life and be around to watch them grow I needed to do something about my health.
I did not realize how out of shape and unhealthy my lifestyle was until I started working out with Sharon and Greg. I also did not realize how unhappy I was with where my life had ended up physically until I lost 25 pounds and was able to move better, breath better, and do things that I could not do before.

When you workout with the urban pump family it is about you as a whole person. They want you to succeed and they push you to your limits to do it, but you will find out that your limits are a lot farther than you would have ever expected. I cannot put into words the love and respect I have for Sharon and Greg.
Now is the time to grab hold of your life. No matter what your goals are or reason for looking at this website, but there should be no more excuses! I have made enough for the whole world. Trust me when I say your life, self-esteem, energy level and body will be completely different. No other trainers will be as invested if your life as these two.

When I met Gregg I was looking for an internship program to become a personal trainer. I had investigated local schools and compared programs and chose Gregg's for several reasons. First, was the one to one ratio of trainer to student. Second, I could complete the program quickly and less expensively without sacrifice of a quality education. Basically I had my own Master Trainer to use as a resource while learning in a real life operating business with clients instead of in a manufactured classroom setting. Gregg's program also prepared me to pass the ACE exam for national certification. I personally changed my own weight-training routine and those of my clients to those that Gregg has developed. Gregg is a generous mentor and continues to share his expertise. On a personal note, I am very proud to say that while working with Gregg I achieved my number one goal: with Gregg's help I now sport six-pack abs!
I never thought of myself as chunky or overwieght, but I also was never happy with my body. It wasn't until I was asked 3 times in a month if I was pregnant(which I wasn't and never have been!) that I decided it was time do something before it got out of control! When Sharon told me she was a trainer I knew that was my ticket! Almost 2 years later I am 2 sizes smaller and feel great! I can finally say I like my body and I never thought I would be this strong! Thank you so much for yesterday's explanations about the workout for strength training. I had never done any strength training before in my life. The only exercise I have ever been attracted to in the past was dancing and swimming and maybe some bicycle riding. I had never attempted strength training before in my life and had no idea what to expect. I have to tell you that you made the experience very pleasant and you were very honest, professional and did a great job explaining everything in detail to me. The nine exercises you did with me I felt today and yesterday in my muscles. They were a little sore and yet my back did not hurt as much and my arm felt better and I also felt better circulation and a pleasant more energized feeling all day that day. Today, I fee good. I told my husband that I really want to commit to your training program and get in to work out with you for better long term results. He agreed, but he also told me he lost his second job today. So financially we need to wait til he finds a second job. Once he does, he promises to let me go and work out there with you.
I don't think it will be long before my husband rents out the other half and gets a client for his in home business and I can start the program. It just won't be immediately Gregg. I am disappointed but also excited that I found something so inherently effective and that I am convinced is going to improve my overall health enormously.
I wish you continued success and hope you don't get too busy for me later on in the year when I join up and get to get that great expertise of yours. "When I was 50 in 2010, my brothers told me that I was fat. I didn't believe them until I saw our pictures at the beach! I always told my fellow plumbers that I was just reaching my prime, but I really was getting older like the rest of them! I was over weight , I had elevated cholesterol levels, and I had to take pills for my high blood pressure. My Doctor recommended diet and exercise to me more than once. I finally followed his advice, and I started training at Urban Pump just after Thanksgiving 2011. After 6 months of training, I realized that I can actually "reach my prime", becoming as fit as I was in 1979, and even stronger! Last June, my doctor took me off my blood pressure prescription. Through diet & exercise alone, my cholesterol levels dropped much lower than ever. I am down to 155lbs, and I've had to tighten my belt by 3 holes! The improvements to my health are the big motivators for me, but what keeps me going back to the gym is Urban Pump's slogan " Be Healthy...Be Strong.. Be Hot. I know that by trying to achieve 2 of those, the 3rd might still come...even at my age!"
"I am a recovering diet and exercise aholic. I am also a recovering Californian so, of course, have spent most of my life trying out one new eating and exercise plan after another. I've crammed cabbage, slurped soup, cleansed masterfully, and zoned out. High carb, low carb, all-protein, no protein... ran 6 miles a day, Jazzercise, power pump, yoga, personal trainers name it, I have experimented with it. I had varying degrees of success - if success is measured in terms of weight loss and increased energy - but was never really able to stick to anything for the long term....until now.....I have been working out with Sharon for about 3 months and I have seen more results than from absolutely anything else that I have ever tried. I've gone down a dress size and feel stronger, and have so much more energy. The works outs are hard. I'm not going to lie, but even I can endure anything for 30 minutes, and it's so rewarding.
